With a general election approaching, people will think about all sorts of issues. In addition to matters like the NHS, the environment and the cost of living, some will be particularly concerned about animal rights.
As the various party manifestos emerge, there may be some things about the subject in some of them, such as the Liberal Democrats saying they would introduce a new animal welfare bill, or Conservative plans to research more into vertical farming (which is all about crops, not animals).
However, it’s not like anyone, not even the Greens, is pushing veganism much. And it may be argued by some that this isn’t what governments should be doing anyway, as folk should make their own choices about what to eat or drink (although that never stopped them from taxing alcohol or, more recently, sugary drinks).
We would never dream of telling you who to mark your cross against in the voting booth, but what we can do is offer you something none of the politicians will: a trip to a vegan hairdresser where you can get great hair care that never harms animals.
Nobody needs to pass any new laws to ensure our products are free of any animal-based ingredients and have never been tested on any of our furry friends.
The great thing about vegan haircare is it is also something we can all do every day as part of our lives, so we don’t have to rely on someone else to keep a promise.
None of that means we don’t want those in places of power to play their part in establishing better animal welfare standards. But we can all play our own role in creating a better world. We don’t need to produce a new manifesto every five years; we have a set of standards we operate by all the time and always will.
